Running a primary and a secondary server on the same machine is
worthless.  Please read all the many times this has been discussed in
the archives.  ;-)

The Linux DNS HOWTO is a worthwhile resource, as is ripe-192, "Simple
DNS Configuration Example"

Best is DNS and BIND, 3rd ed, Albitz & Liu, O'Reilly and Associates.
Supplement that with recent changes found in

There are groups who seriously insist that security requires that you
run your DNS on a totally separate machine.  If this is possible, it
certainly doesn't hurt.
