rpm -q bind

will tell you the version (if any) you have installed. According to
<http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/bind.html> Red Hat 7 ships with
bind-8.2.2_P5-25.

There are actually 3 RPM bind packages (which I found by entering "rpm
-qa | grep bind"): bind, bind-utils, and bind-devel.

If these are not installed, you can install them from the CD with "rpm
-U bind*" (assuming the current directory is the directory on the CD
containing the *.i386.rpm files). You must be root to do this.

I think that's ok, but I'll defer to the bind experts.

Red Hat provides the caching-nameserver package
(http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/caching-nameserver.html) which is a
sample set of bind configuration files. If not already installed,
install it with "rpm -U caching-nameserver*".

Also, look in /usr/doc/bind* for documentation provided by the
packages.
