Never mind, I don't know what I was thinking. I did some research and it's
okay, but does it matter if I'm not authoritative for the address space and
I make those entries?

Subject: CNAME records pointing to other domains.

is this correct?

$ORIGIN cmd.gwu.edu.
charon IN CNAME charon.cmd.gwumc.edu.
cpmdtest IN CNAME cpmdtest.cmd.gwumc.edu.
gwvenus IN CNAME gwvenus.cmd.gwumc.edu.

I found this in my db file and I'm wondering if it's correct according to
RFCs. It seems to work, but is it really a good idea to have a CNAME record
pointing to a machine in another domain (but NOT a subdomain)?
