Why in godsname does you Cisco have an MX record ?? 

This is not necessary unless you want something like user at gw.domain.ext
ONLY specify an MX when the subdomain actually receives mail.

The general rule :

You need a MX with a domain : domain.ext needs a MX record.
You only need a MX for something like subdomain.domain.ext if it actually
receives mail under user at subdomain.domain.ext, else don't specify an MX
record.
