Hello
I'm afraid I am having a problem that I dont have the experience to be able
to track down. I'm not even sure that it is a BIND problem, but have no
where else to turn.
I have a domain, crossthread.com that is hosted by a local ISP here (which I
have access to adminstratively):
icecube# whois crossthread.com
Whois Server Version 1.3
<snip>
Domain Name: CROSSTHREAD.COM
Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com
Referral URL: www.networksolutions.com
Name Server: ICECUBE.GICE.COM
Name Server: ICETRAY.GICE.COM
Updated Date: 30-apr-1999
<snip>
A few weeks ago I needed to re-address the nodes of my network, and changed
DNS to reflect that. Since then I have been unable to receive mail from many
parts of the internet :( It seems that some name servers on the net are not
picking up the changes. zone dumps from both of those servers show nothing
suspect. This is a very simple zone:
Server: icecube.gice.com
Address: 139.142.137.129
Name: hercules.crossthread.com
Address: 139.142.137.241
> ls -d crossthread.com
[icecube.gice.com]
crossthread.com. SOA icecube.gice.com root.orion.ab.ca.
(12 14400 3600 04800 86400)
crossthread.com. NS icecube.gice.com
crossthread.com. NS icetray.gice.com
crossthread.com. MX 10 hercules.crossthread.com
crossthread.com. MX 15 icecube.gice.com
grammabev A 24.72.35.232
ftp CNAME hercules.crossthread.com
mail CNAME hercules.crossthread.com
www CNAME hercules.crossthread.com
hercules A 139.142.137.241
crossthread.com. SOA icecube.gice.com root.orion.ab.ca.
(12 14400 3600 604800 86400)
AFAIK, this is OK.
One problematic name server is an ns1.eds.com
ns1.eds.com reports hercules.crossthread.com at 139.142.137.200 (which was
the old address):
> hercules.crossthread.com
Server: ns1.eds.com
Address: 192.85.154.78
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: hercules.crossthread.com
Address: 139.142.137.200
---
In case I forgot to increment the serial number, I did it yesterday.
Yesterday an SOA query to ns1.eds.com resulted in yesterday's serial number,
and today it results in todays (the incremented one)
I am having this problem all over the Internet, so I must have done
something wrong. Can someone help?
Thanks!
Tim
PS. The versions of BIND running on my primary and secondary name server
are:
icecube.gice.com: 8.2.2-P5
icetray.gice.com: 8.2.2-P5
( I dont adminster these boxes, but do have access )
