Anytime you "chain" updates through multiple servers it extends the
time it takes for changes (made on the real master) to propagate out
to all the slaves.  This can have some ugly effects.  The
"also-notify" option on the real master (pointing to the second level
slaves), as suggested by Joseph, or the "notify" option on both the
master and the first level slaves can greatly mitigate this problem.
