Easy way to determine BIND version remotely?

Both the 8.2.2-p5 I compiled myself using M$ VC++ and the one someone is 
distributing pre-built for NT returns:

  VERSION.BIND    text =

        "%VERSION%"

An old NT version I had laying around returns:

  VERSION.BIND    text =

        "named 4.9.5-Rel+-Monday-11-November-96
        GregSchueman-LarryKahn-VirajBais"
