in.named not recognizing new build of bind

I've successfully built bind.8.2.2 on solaris7, all the makes ran without
error, but when I run /usr/sbin/in.named, my /var/adm/messages pops out

named[456]: starting.  in.named BIND 8.1.2 Tue Nov 10 18:16:24 PST 1998

how do i get named to recognize the new bind?  do i have to rebuild that?
