Can Bind be automatically fed with ip numbers from a local ethernet ?

I wonder whether it is possible to have bind automatically fed with
host data which are on a local subnet. I've just started playing with
bind8, and found that all ip numbers should be specified in the
(statical) database files.
Is it somehow possible that an arbitrary host on a local ethernet is
recognised by bind (e.g. during bootp / dhcp ip assignment) without
having to manipulate  the database files ?
