Go to the Index of the O'Reilly DNS&BIND book, look up "subnetting, on/off
octet boundaries".

If you don't have the book (shame on you), download RFC 2317 from
www.rfc-editor.org.  Or use the Ask Mr. DNS service at www.acmebw.com.
