As I mentioned before, you need a valid /etc/netconfig in your chroot jail.
Later versions of Solaris (e.g. Solaris 7) don't need this, presumably because
they implement the socket() call mostly in the kernel, instead of layering it
on top of the NSL stuff (which uses /etc/netconfig).
