Close. In QIP, the master server is actually the Oracle or Sybase
database that holds all the hostnames and IP addresses. Chnages to
QIP-managed zones are made to the database, not the zone files. Every
so often, some SQL runs and churns out fresh copies of the zone files
for the name servers to load. In a sense QIP-managed name servers
that are configured as master for some QIP-managed zone are actually
slaves (secondaries) for that zone. They're not the ultimate source of
the zone's DNS data and they're not the place where the zone's
contents can be changed.
