compaq.com strangeness?

We had some complaints that users couldn't get to www.compaq.com today.
It turns out to be a DNS resolution issue, apparently.

If I do an nslookup on the compaq.com domain, I get what appears to be
the information for .com:

dns# nslookup
Default Server:  dns.heurikon.com
Address:  192.48.244.69

> set q=any
> compaq.com
Server:  dns.heurikon.com
Address:  192.48.244.69

com
        origin = A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET
        mail addr = hostmaster.internic.NET
        serial = 2000060601
        refresh = 1800 (30M)
        retry   = 900 (15M)
        expire  = 604800 (1W)
        minimum ttl = 86400 (1D)

However, all other domains appear to resolve fine, and also compaq.com
doesn't seem to have any problems when I try it from an external ISP. It
also works fine within nslookup when I specify a different external
server (rather than our master DNS server).

Our root.cache hints file is up to date, and we don't seem to have any
loss of connectivity to anyplace (specifying the IP instead of the
hostname for www.compaq.com works fine), and this appears to be the only
affected domain.

I grepped through all my DNS config and zone files looking for
compaq.com (perhaps something was munged on our server?), and find
nothing.

Any ideas?

thanks!

johns
