I'm pretty sure that was the only domain in the NSI database that mentioned
it; I would have listed them all if it weren't.

The commands I used were:

whois -h whois.networksolutions.com host barge.mcs.anl.gov

to get the handle for this server, BARGE3-HST, followed by:

whois -h whois.networksolutions.com server barge3-hst

This doesn't show anything now. I also performed the same checks at
whois.arin.net to seee if there were any reverse domains delegated to it,
but there aren't.

There may be some lower-level delegations. The only way to find out what
these are is to turn on tracing in your server and look for the messages
that precede it trying to look up barge.mcs.anl.gov.
