Does $generate support type a yet?

We have a number of subnets that are not accessible to the internet
but I want to create place holders (forward and reverse) on our
external DNS server - to keep all those apps out there doing reverse
happy.  

$generate for A records would be a great help.  

If you've done this, I'd appreciate an example.
