Name server time out

Hello

I have installed a mailserver whit redhat 6.1, with linux conf.
I'ts run properly, but..
When i send a email to an wrong emailadres, i get the message:
    name server timeout.
That is good, because the domainname is wrong, but it is during: 1 minute
and 20 seconds when the nameserver response!!!
Where can i set the timer of the name server????
I want to a faster name server time out signal!!!
