problems to upgrade from sun solaris included bind 8.1.2 to the 8.2.2-P5

The named.conf looks OK to me. If nslookup works and telnet doesn't, I'd
suspect that there is something wrong with your system resolver. What do
you have for the "hosts" entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf?
