I have no idea what Sun does with BIND - does it make changes to the
source? This may be similar to sendmail, where the Sun-supplied
sendmail has a different version string than that in the sendmail.org
source. What you can do is this:
cd ....
strings named | grep named
When I run that command on one of my DNS servers, I get these two lines
(among others):
@(#)named 8.2.2-P5 Mon Nov 29 10:30:19 CST 1999 ...
named 8.2.2-P5 Mon Nov 29 10:30:19 CST 1999
