DNS newbie needs help

I'm trying to set up a primary DNS server (RH 6.1/ Bastille
Linux) for our company.
I'm working through the DNS-Howto and everything works for a
caching DNS-server except that I get 0.0.0.0/0 instead of
127.0.0.1 for localhost.

Now I'm moving on and starting up nslookup and entering

>localhost ; or
>127.0.0.1 ; or
>0.0.0.0

gives me Cant find 127.0.0.1: Non-existant host/domain

Any suggestions.
