Hi,

Running 8.2.2-P5 on FreeBSD, and doing som experiments with rfc2136
updates, my real concern is that the master zone file, doesn't seem
to be updated, unless named is restarted, is there any way to force
the file to be sync'ed on periodic basis ?

rfc2135 paragraph 3.5 states

--quote start--

3.5 - Stability

When a zone is modified by an UPDATE operation, the server must
commit the change to nonvolatile storage before sending a response to
the requestor or answering any queries or transfers for the modified
zone. It is reasonable for a server to store only the update records
as long as a system reboot or power failure will cause these update
records to be incorporated into the zone the next time the server is
started. It is also reasonable for the server to copy the entire
modified zone to nonvolatile storage after each update operation,
though this would have suboptimal performance for large zones.

--quote end--

And the update gets written in the zone.log and zone.ixfr files, but not
in the zone file itself.

The reason I'm concerened is that we still on occation do manual changes
to the zone files, and afterwards do a 'ndc reload zone', but I expect things
to break, if the zone file that we're editing is not up to date, or ??
