Trouble with 8.2.1 build on Linux

I have the same problem on a Slackware 3.6 box with kernel 2.0.38.
It's also strange that the new Slackware 4.0 ships with Bind 8.1.2
instead of 8.2.1. Maybe it's a structural problem on Slackware boxes?
