Another possibility - it was discussed before - I found it in the
archives -
http://www.isc.org/bind-users-archive/index.html
The updates could be coming from a Microsoft Windows 2000 Workstation
or Server computer. In Windows 2000 Workstation, the user can go into
the TCP/IP properties box and uncheck "Register this node". After a
reboot, the Workstation will not try to register its forward and
reverse DNS pointers. Windows 2000 Server is different; it REQUIRES
a Microsoft Windows 2000 DNS box.
On the same topic, a colleague sent me a posting from a DECUS newsgroup
that stated that a Microsoft Windows 2000 DNS box will cause problems
with BIND. I did not see anything in the archives, and the DECUS
posting had no details. Does anyone have more information? My job in
the near term is to try to figure out how to integrate Windows 2000
into our current DNS structure here at Argonne.
