After inserting 2nd NIC my cable modem stops working

When setting up the 2nd NIC in yout box, be sure to set ONLY an internal
IP address (192.168.*.*) and subnet mask only!  Do not define a default
gateway, otherwise your apps may try to reach the DNS servers through
the local network instead of the 1st NIC which SHOULD have the default
gateway of your ISP/Cable Co.
