was: Granite Canyon [DOWN] as slave server

I am surprised this is not true as well. I hope GC is not gone for
good. Does anybody know the status? I have seen maybe 3 messages in
Deja posted so far.

I just learned of Granite Canyon recently and was planning to host a
few names there. I have a few domain names and a small web site and
every web hoster I find want like $10 a month to host DNS per domain!!
That is total crap. I run a DNS server for my real company and know
what admin and bandwidth it takes up, no where near $10 worth unless
you host microsoft.com or something. I would put it on my work servers
but there's that whole 'getting-fired' thing that keeps getting in the
way.

Perhaps an enterprising young web hosting company will put up a similar
service. I would be happy to host my web page with them if I could
take control of my DNS entries, and not have to pay $5-10 a month extra
per name for what will amount to 10cents worth of bandwidth. That's
obscene.
