BIND 8.2.1 compile errors on SCO 5.0.4

The error message I am getting running make is:

/usr/lib/libsocket.so: fatal error: attempt to override defined size of
symbol `_res` with size of tentative definition
*** Error code 1 (bu21)
*** Error code 1 (bu21)
*** Error code 1 (bu21)

Any help would be appreciated.
