If they don't have any overlap in their listen-on lists, as in the example
that was posted, multiple named processes should work fine.  Many people
are doing precisely what's described below.  In fact, we are (4.2.49.1 and
4.2.49.5 are virtual addresses on the same machine, but they have different
named.conf files -- 4.2.49.1 is a slave server for zones that our customers
are masters for, while 4.2.49.5 is the master server for zones that we
host).
