how to tell which ver is running?

I have an F5 networks 3DNS box running 8.something, on BSD. I want it
to be at the latest and greatest for security. My understanding is that
I need to be at 8.2.2 patchlevel 5. How can I display what version (and
patches if any) are currently installed on my box?

Also, when I downloaded patchlevel 5 from isc.org, and ran 'make
install' from /src/bsd, it went very quickly. There were no error
messages that I could see, but I'm wondering if applying the patch
should have produced such a small output. Thanks in advance. robert
