ndc config question

Installing bind 8.2.2.P5 on Irix 6.5 went ok. One little problem
remains. the ndc tool doesnt work ok. It is some config problem,
but i cant figure out which. 
Running ndc reconfig:

# ndc reconfig
ndc: error: ctl_client: evConnect(fd 3): Socket operation on
non-socket
ndc: error: cannot connect to command channel (/etc/named.d/ndc)

Anyone a clew ?
