65000 limit?

 You will need to upgrade.  From the BIND 8.2 CHANGES:

 412.   [bug]           we now support 2**24-1 (16M) zones. (need namespaces!)

 Though you may need a 64 bit machine to actually handle 16M zones.

 I would recommend BIND 8.2.1.
