Getting www. to work with Public DNS

This is, of course, incorrect.  Either the first form or
www		IN CNAME	mydomain.com.
in the "mydomain.com" zone file would be correct.

The latter former tries to declare a FULLY-QUALIFIED domain name of
"www" [NOT "www.mydomain.com"], which is probably not what the original
writer intends.

Even the lowly '.' has immense impact.
