BIG TIME newbie question.

I have just decided to wade into running a personal web server and thought if I
was going to do it, might as well do it right.

I need a gentle shove, tug or smack in the right direction as to learning as
much as I can about DNS. This seems to be one of the more arcane protocols as I
can't seem to find adequate information on the web. Am I not looking in the
right places?

Can anyone give me a pointer to follow in order to begin learning about this? A
good web page or a book reference would be really great.
