lots of incoming NXDomain pakets

Hello,

you don't run Novell 3 network protocols on your LAN do you ? I've seen
at least one lan where novell 3 clients
insisted on querying DNS for a novell name. Sorry, I'm by no means a
Novell specialist, couldn't tell you how
to turn it off (the specialist of the customer said something about
upgrading, but there were technical reasons
why that was not immediately possible) ((I was the one who interpreted
the hex dumps of a Cicso 76x router
because that device was blamed for the long and never ending
connections))

Another cause for unwanted DNS traffic is a setting in WIndows to "use
DNS for WINS resolution".
I always turn it off.

Hope this helps,

Marc Lampo
