hi,

here what i have done for dhcp is simply point the /etc/resolv.conf to
the nameservers ip addresses of the cable providers dns.. domain to the
domain that is resolved for dynamic addresses. It works just fine.
here is what i think is being asked. i am sure i will be corrected if
i am wrong:-) the requestor wants to use the dhcp assigned address
as if it were a static ip address so that they might register a
domainname. AFAIK this can't be done since you must be assigned the
addresses from arin or equivalent. What could be done is to use a
dhcp dns service and after setting up have it redir ports according
to the service requested to simulate in a nat sort of way the various
services they wish to offer off of a single dhcp address. But nothing
beats IMHO having your own assigned addresses. But if you are not a
isp you are out of luck here.. Otherwise you will need to goto a isp
that is willing to lend you a few addresses for external usage.
Here is what i would like to do so if anyone has a url that steps through
the ps please don't hesitate. I would like to setup split dns for 8.xx
anyone have the url handy?
