bind version

Ha! You are in luck. ;)
I just had a same question and here is a few answers I found out.

1. do SCCS lookup on in.named
# what /path_to_in.named/in.named

2. If you have dig,(it did not work for 4.9.3 and was told will work for
   4.9.x+ !?!?

# dig @server.to.query txt chaos version.bind. 
-> look for VERSION from output.

3. using nslookup,

# nslookup
set class=chaos
set type=txt
version.bind

4. I havn't tried this but,
# ndc -t status
