query-source port * broken?

I'm running 8.2.2-p5 on SPARC/Solaris 2.6.  In determining why 
ndc status always gave "server is STILL priming", I find that for 
either of these uses of query-source, all queries are being sent 
with a source port of 53:

  # query-source address 10.100.4.172 ;
  query-source address 10.100.4.172 port * ;

It controls the source /address/ just fine, but only when I explicitly 
set a high-numbered port do I get it to source from anything other 
than port 53.

I have not had a chance to try this on another architecture/OS.

Is this a known issue?
