Also the "(" in the SOA records has to be on the same line as the SOA.
The "(" says to ignore newlines until you encounter a ")".
e.g.
@ IN SOA sncdc.mixcoac.upmx.mx. root.sncdc.mixcoac.upmx.mx. (
07129903 ; Serial
21600 ; Refresh 3 hours
3600 ; Retry 1 hour
2600000 ; Expire 1000 hours
86400 ) ; Minimum 24 hours
This error would have been syslogged (/var/adm/messages).
