Possible, but on a MAC you cannot easily release a lease. You can only renew – which might work as it should get a NAK according to Tomas.
But on windows, when you make a renew, it doesn’t actually send a release. It only renews.

Won't an "ipconfig /release" or similar delete it from the lease db?

take care of it not using the address anymore).
