how to use options -m append|replace|forward|discard in dhcrelay?

Hi all,
I would like to know how to use the options "-m append|replace|forward|discard" in dhcrelay.  What is the purpose and when it will be needed?
If somebody tested dhcp relay with this configuration please let me updated the configuration.

# ./dhcrelay --help
Usage: dhcrelay [-4] [-d] [-q] [-a] [-D]
                     [-A <length>] [-c <hops>] [-p <port>]
                     [-pf <pid-file>] [--no-pid]
                     [-m append|replace|forward|discard]
                     [-i interface0 [ ... -i interfaceN]
                     server0 [ ... serverN]
