Thanks for that information, it makes perfectly sense.


My next question is:
Why doesn't the output of `ip addr show` not respect the values of received valid and preferred lifetime. It just displays "forever" for both lifetimes.

I also tried dibbler-client, but with the same result. Is this a linux kernel bug or just not yet implemented in dhcpd?
