Peers do not reconnect after network failure

Hello all,

I am new to this list but I already searched through the archive.

We operate two dhcpd (4.1.0) on RedHat EL5.4.

There was a network failure last week and my peers separated from each
other. Both peers got into communications-interrupted state but never
reconnected until I restarted the secondary four days later.

What I found in the archive is that this behaviour happend to some
people in the past. But I found nothing about a solution.

So there are two questions: how can I monitor this problem (without
observing the log-files) and does anyone have a solution?
