Submitting patch for additional logging

We are working on a patch that will allow dhcpd to log the
lease-length time for outgoing ACKs. This will allow us to keep better
logs as to when particular leases are active. Two questions...

- Is there a standard test suite that is used to test new code
revisions? I'm sure there are corner cases that we may not take into
account.
- Assuming everything works well, would such a patch be considered for
rolling into a future release?
