meaning of "xid mismatch"??

It means "transaction id". Every DHCP exchange is supposed to have a unique
transaction ID, something easily seen with Wireshark. If the DHCP server
receives a response for a device with a different transaction ID than what
was expected, it spits out this error.

Subject: meaning of "xid mismatch"??

Hi,

I recently upgraded from dhcp 3.0.6 to 3.1.0, now I'm seeing
lots of:

bind update on [IP] got ack from colby: xid mismatch.

I googled and searched the MARC mailing list archives for
a plain-english description of what this means (and what to
do about it), but didn't find one. So what does it really
mean?
