DHCP clients and VPN connections

Hi,

An interesting bug[1] was just brought to my attention:

if user on a computer using dhclient brings up a VPN connection, and
dhclient subsequently renews the lease, there's a bit of a fight over
/etc/resolv.conf. The VPN client updates it when the VPN connection is
brought up, but then dhclient goes and clobbers it with the original local
nameserver information.

There's a few suggestions for workarounds in the bug report followups, but I
don't think any of them are particularly ideal.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this scenario?

regards

Andrew
