It depends on which records you're talking about.  Presumably you mean
those which could conceivably affect people on the Outside.

Logging queries won't do the job anyway.  Suppose you have a domain
that's very rarely used - like, er, thefirebrigade.com for example?

How about some 'whois' queries?
