I have a lot of clients which currently have not domain suffix set. They just have a hostname.
They are also not in active directory.
I'll
fix all this eventually, but for now i need them to resolve a hostname
using dns. The dns server is not resolving the query, presumeably
because it's just getting a hostname with no domain (a NO FQDN)
I want to know if cound the dns server (bind) assume a domain name suffix by default when receiving a query with no domain specified, ans so
convert a NO FQDN to a FQDN
The dns
server is authoritive for this domain, and it's the only domain it
manages.
Thanks a lot
