Yep, and solely because of that, I name the zone file by the zone.

Zone whatever.com would have the same filename. Then I can use:

named-checkzone whatever.com whatever.com
or
named-checkzone 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

There's also named-checkconf, comes in handy too.
