Does this work if you connect by IP address?
Sounds like more of an issue with your firewall than bind per se.
DNS simply resolves a name to an IP address. If that address is not
reachable for a particular host due to routing or firewalling there's
nothing bind or any DNS implementation can do about that.
However, if connections do work by IP address, you could use a separate
view in your bind server config to provide the correct external address
for this server to external clients from your internal DNS server.
