When a zone loads, any names without the trailing "." will have the 
current $ORIGIN appended.

named(8) logs errors at a higher priority than INFO. Look in your 
syslog.conf to see where the higher priority logs are going. There you 
will see a detailed account of why your zones failed to load.

Also, named-checkzone(8) is your friend.
