Question re root cache

We have had several additional entries in our root cache file for many
years (I inherited them). I only just got around to wondering what
effect (if any) they might have.

The cache file is loaded via a zone "." entry in named.conf. It includes
the normal root server info, as retrieved at regular intervals from
root-servers.net and some NS records (plus glue) for the ".ch" domain.

Sample:

   ch. 999999999 IN NS DOMREG.NIC.CH.
   DOMREG.NIC.CH. 999999999 IN A 130.59.1.80

Why might someone have added such entries and what use are they, if any?
I personally don't think they will ever be referred to...

Yours puzzledly, K.
