I suggest this book right here. It will not only guide you through all the steps to install BIND but also how to secure it, maintain it, etc...
As far as iptables, it depends on the locality of the machine, threat analysis, etc...But as far as Bind is concerned, if properly configured, it doesn't need iptables to protect it.

Dear Friends,
Good Morning,
I want suggestions from the all the great people from this community who have more experience in this industry.
I have installed RHEL3 and i am planning to install a dns, mail, ldap server as a test, how do I go about.
How shall I configure my DNS which will cater to only the LAN, do i need to implement firewall(IPTABLES).
Kindly suggest at the earliest.
